Do you love yourself?
You all must have heard the story of a man named Narcissus who fell in love with his own image reflected in a pool of water.
Narcissism is also considered a social or cultural problem. It is one of the three dark personality traits (the others being psychopathy and Machiavellianism). So when we talk about ‘love yourself’ we don’t mean ‘be narcissist‘. There’s difference between the two. Remember the old saying that we cannot love others if we cannot love ourselves. There are reasons behind this idea.
- Accept Approve Grow : we all are made of positive and negative traits. Accepting your negative qualities doesn’t mean flaunting them but courage to confess and to improve them. This is the first step towards growth.
- Better social circle : when you accept and love yourself the way you are you are also accepting the people around you with their flaws without any grudges. This improves your relations with others.
- Happiness accompanies you : Imagine a life that’s full of happiness. Sounds impossible ? No it’s not. According to the Bhagavad-Gita human suffering is real, but not permanent. It is caused by faulty thinking, perspectives, beliefs and attitudes. It depends upon the way we perceive things and react to them.
So the solution of your suffering is in your own hands. Accept yourself the way you are, accept others the way they are; Be happy and spread happiness.
